
The Japan Society for the Propmotion of Science (JSPS) is calling for the nominations of the 5th Hideyo Noguchi Africa Prize. This Japanese-government-sponsored prize is designed to honor individuals or organizations with outstanding achievements in the categories of medical research and medical services to combat infectious and other diseases in Africa. The award ceremony will be held to coincide with the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD). The recipient of the 5th Hideyo Noguchi Africa Prize will be selected in 2025.
The Prize consists of a citation, a medal and 100 million yen (equivalent to about 660 thousand US dollars) to each laureate of both categories.
The nomination invitation for the 5th Prize has been publicly launched and is coming up to the dead line of September 20th, 2024.
Scope of the Prize
The Prize is awarded in two categories:
- Medical Research: Basic medical research, Clinical medical research, Research in all fields of life science closely related to medicine
- Medical Services: Field-level medical/public health activities to combat diseases and advance public health
